The 1000 km of Zeltweg was an endurance car race that took place near Zeltweg, in Austria, and was part of the World Sports Prototype Championship since the second edition [1]. Originally called Grosser Preiss von Österreich (Austrian Grand Prix), the inaugural edition of the race was held in 1965 over a distance of 200 miles on the temporary circuit created inside the Hinterstoisser-Zeltweg Aerodrome (which the previous year had hosted the homonymous Formula 1 race), to then see its distance extended to 500 km for the editions from 1966 to 1968, when it was included in the world championship.
