1/18 Werk83 1998 Michael Schumacher Ferrari F300 3 Wheeler #3 Belgium GP Diecast Car Model
At the rain-soaked Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, Michael Schumacher was comfortably leading the race and on course for victory. On lap 25/26, he collided with David Coulthard, whom he was about to lap. Coulthard eased off the throttle on the racing line to let Schumacher past; due to spray and poor visibility, Schumacher realised this too late and crashed into the back of the McLaren. The impact tore off the front wing, the right-hand front suspension and the front wheel of Schumacher’s Ferrari – he practically dragged the car back to the pits as a “three-wheeler”.
Afterwards, Schumacher was extremely angry and stormed into the McLaren garage, believing that Coulthard had deliberately endangered him or slowed him down. The scene became legendary. Later, Coulthard admitted that his behaviour whilst lapping had been unfortunate, even if it was not a deliberate crash.
